What Stewart checks for welding, engineering and fabrication shops.

General information only. Cover varies by policy.

  • Hot work conditions.

Most fab shop policies have them. Stewart goes through what yours ask of you, in plain English.

  • Work on a customer’s site.

Welding off site this week? Stewart checks where your cover stops.

  • Plant and machinery values.

Replacement costs move. Sums insured often don’t.

  • Your renewal date.

Stewart starts renewals six to eight weeks out, so there’s time to go to the market properly. If yours is months away, that’s the best time to look.

Why First Commercial.

Properly insured, not just insured.

  • You deal with the owner.

Clients get Stewart’s mobile and direct email. Not a call centre, not a junior.

  • The reach of a big network.

First Commercial is independently owned and a member broker of Insurance Advisernet, which gives Stewart access to a wide range of insurers.

  • Someone in your corner at claim time.

Stewart stays with you through renewals and claims, and guides you through the claim process.

  • Straight answers.

If you’re well covered, he’ll tell you. Plenty of people are.

Stewart Hunt, owner of First Commercial Insurance Brokers

Who you’ll talk to.

Hi, I’m Stewart.

"Most businesses I talk to are insured. What they haven’t had in years is someone checking the one line that matters for their industry. That’s what the 15 minutes is for."

Stewart Hunt Owner and broker, First Commercial Insurance Brokers

You’ll deal with me, not a call centre.

Fair questions.

Ask Stewart anything else on the call.

Is the call really free?

Yes. The 15 minute call costs nothing and there’s no obligation to move anything.

Who will I be talking to?

Stewart Hunt, owner of First Commercial Insurance Brokers. Not a call centre, not a junior.

What happens on the call?

Stewart asks how your business runs, what you’ve got in place now, and when it renews. Then he tells you straight whether a full review is worth it.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No. If your current policy schedule is handy, have it nearby. If not, no problem.

Is this just for Auckland?

Stewart is based in Titirangi and meets Auckland clients in person if you’d like. He looks after businesses right across New Zealand by phone and video. He can’t help businesses based outside New Zealand.

What types of businesses do you look after?

Established New Zealand businesses, usually with five or more staff and $1m+ turnover. A lot of manufacturing, woodworking and joinery, engineering and fabrication, food production and commercial property.

Which insurers do you use?

First Commercial is a member broker of Insurance Advisernet, which gives Stewart access to a wide range of insurers. He takes your business to the ones that suit your industry.

How are you paid?

First Commercial may receive a commission from the insurer, which is part of your premium, and may charge a fee for advice or for arranging your insurance. If a fee applies, you’ll be told when the advice is given, before you accept anything.

The full details are in our disclosure.

Will you find me a cheaper premium?

Maybe, maybe not. Stewart compares cover alongside price, so you know what you’re paying for. He won’t promise a lower price.

What if I’m already well covered?

He’ll tell you. Plenty of people are, and that’s still worth knowing.

We’re happy with our current broker.

Good. A second opinion takes 15 minutes. If your cover stacks up, you’ll know for sure.

Switching sounds like a hassle.

The call commits you to nothing. If you do decide to move, Stewart handles the paperwork for you.

Will I get hounded afterwards?

No. If it’s not a fit, that’s the end of it.

Can you help with cyber insurance?

Yes. It’s one of the things Stewart checks. Your IT provider stops the attack. Insurance is about who pays for the investigation, legal advice and downtime. Different jobs.

How do I know you’re legit?

First Commercial Insurance Brokers Limited (FSP748591) and Stewart Hunt (FSP81661) are authorised under Insurance Advisernet New Zealand Limited’s financial advice licence (FSP26221). Our disclosure is linked at the bottom of every page.
